Professional Profile

I earned a Bachelor of Science in Building Science and Sustainable Design: Architectural Technology Concentration from Pennsylvania College of Technology. While obtaining my degree at Pennsylvania College of Technology, I learned many technical skills and the basics of architecture. As part of the curriculum, I became Autodesk Building Performance Analysis certified. I was also part of the U.S. Green Building Council student chapter and Alpha Chi National College Honor Society while at Pennsylvania College of Technology. I was recognized by the facility in 2014 with the Excellence in Systems Applications Studies & Excellence in Computer Applications Studies awards.  The Excellence in Systems Applications Studies award was for the highest grade in our Building Materials 1 & 2 classes that year. The Excellence in Computer Applications Studies Award was for my ability to learn, utilize, and assist others with the architectural software we used.

My architectural career started while I was in college as an intern at a small architectural firm during the Summer of 2015. I was responsible for picking up redline drawings; preparing basic residential mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings; and starting BIM models for new projects. The next two summers, I gained construction experience at a company that built mostly single-story condos as a construction laborer.  I helped with a variety of tasks from preparing for concrete slabs, framing walls, setting roof trusses, sheathing the roof, constructing firewalls between units, installing exterior finishes, and some interior finishes among other tasks around the development.

After graduating from Pennsylvania College of Technology, I continued my career at Kelly & Stone Architects in 2017.  While there, I gained more knowledge and valuable experiences. I worked on multiple residential projects through different stages of the design process as well as helped improve the company’s BIM standards and procedures. I am most proud of the Hawaii custom house I worked on from the start of the design process through the completion of construction and the Truckee, CA custom house that I worked on from the start of the design process to the start of construction. I also worked on developing and implementing the company standards and procedural parts of the firm as it related to their BIM platform, ArchiCAD.

Over the last 3.5 years at Swaback, I have broadened my architectural and design knowledge to include some commercial, multifamily, and master planning projects.  I have gotten to work on conceptual development and studies through construction and permitting drawings.  One of my additional roles given my natural ability and passion for helping those I work with to do better has been to investigate and test new tools, processes, and services to implement into the company standards.

My ability to quickly learn new programs and assist others that are not as technically savvy is one of my greatest strengths. Another of my greatest strengths is my attention to detail that helps minimize errors and rework.  I have been recognized for being able to generate and demonstrate great solutions to a variety of design problems. As a young architect, I believe I have a great understand of how spaces should relate to one another to provide the best function and circulation.  I also see the benefits of trying new tools and techniques in hopes of helping encourage those around me to be more efficient.  I work hard on all tasks I am given until it is done correctly.

I also have a passion for sustainable design and finding the most efficient way to do things in hopes of making design tasks easier and reduce issues/rework whenever possible.  I look forward to where the next chapter of my career may take me.

Volunteer Work & Hobbies

While living and working in Truckee, I enjoyed volunteering my time on the board of Truckee AYSO, as the Equipment Manager and a coach. As Equipment Manager, I was responsible for making sure over 800 kids, from ages 4-15, were provided with most of the equipment needed to practice and play soccer, organize/coordinate multiple organization-wide events throughout the season, and store the gear for the winter.  It was a lot of work but it was well worth it to see a majority of the kids out on the field having fun playing the sport I grew up loving myself.

Some of my favorite hobbies involve being in, on and around the water like kayaking, deep sea fishing, and water sports.  I also enjoy activities include hiking, camping, bon fires, woodworking, and various sports.
